DeSantis Crowned Miss Brooklyn 2012
BROOKLYN, NY –November 18, 2011— Christina
Joseph, Executive Director of the Miss Brooklyn Scholarship Organization *(www.missbrooklyn.org), announced today that Maria DeSantis of Manhattan, New York is the new titleholder for 2012. On Sunday, November
13th, at the *Brooklyn Music School* in Fort Greene, the tax associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers beat out a formidable field
of 13 to take the title in one of New York’s preliminary pageants for *Miss America. This Wagner College Graduate
student and classically trained soprano is eager to start her reign as the new Miss Brooklyn.
Promoting a platform
of “*Healthy Kids for a Healthier Tomorrow,” Maria brought
poise, confidence and talent to the Brooklyn crown, which was passed on from outgoing queen, Christina Moore of Brooklyn.
Maria stated that she “entered the competition hoping to gain a valuable experience and the opportunity to vie
for the Miss New York title in June. (She is) elated to be able to represent the amazing borough of Brooklyn.” She is
excited for a year filled of appearances and representing the Miss Brooklyn Organization. The new Miss Brooklyn wants to bring
her passion for music and her platform to schools throughout Brooklyn and city to teach the importance of the arts and living
a healthy life.
“The competition
was fierce this year, and featured more experienced girls than ever,” said Christina Joseph. “We are proud of
the talent that we attracted & showcased this year, and look forward to showing what Brooklyn is made of at Miss New York
in June.”
